Better to be feared than loved, or. . . she's all about that bass.

Just came across this analysis of a Penn St. study on the connection between attraction and perceived dominance to one's fundamental frequency of one's voice.  Essentially, do we have a wide range of voice frequency due to sexual selection in our mating system?  
They seem to think so.

They also had some things to say about beards.  My take away, is that bearded men with low voices are less likely to attract women than our clean shaven counterparts, but are more likely to be perceived as dominant by our babyfaced tenor competition. Agreeing with them provides a nice ego stroke, so let me put on my white lab coat, push up my glasses, and agree with this brilliant group of researchers (and Jeremiah Johnson)


We all have our individual preferences, of course, so I pay this just slightly more credence than a horoscope.
