Great new book for veterans transitioning out of the Armed Forces
By now, I think most people are aware that the prolonged "War on Terror" has taken a toll on a lot of veterans in different ways. Thankfully there are a lot of great people donating their time, skills and resources to help, and I want to acknowledge one of them now.
My great friend, former colleague, and fellow veteran, Dmitry Rukhlin somehow found the free time to write a great book for servicemembers who are separating from the service and seeking to join the civilian work force. I'd like to share it with you, because it is a great resource, and one I certainly could have used about 6 years ago when I was pondering my post-Army career plans.
Leaving Active Duty: Real-life Stories and Advice for Junior Military Officers is written with the candor of a good friend sharing his, and many others' experiences, both good and bad, to save others the stress and pain of jumping into the wrong job, making embarrassing interview gaffes or having a resume that's written in a military language foreign to the people reading it.
There are some stories in this book (including mine) of people learning some tough lessons, so I'm really thankful Dmitry put them together so people can learn from our mistakes.
It's available On Amazon and Createspace for less than $10, and all proceeds go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and by all means, please share with any friends or family who are transitioning and would benefit from this resource.
